To make efforts for the development of modern Nepali music.
To conduct and facilitate studies and research on the development of modern Nepali music from its origin to the present.
To acquire information about contemporary trends in music emerging internationally and to make efforts to inform the general public accordingly.
To formulate and implement appropriate plans to establish modern Nepali music in the international arena.
To organize seminars, workshops, training programs, and competitions necessary for the development of modern Nepali music.
To prepare and maintain a list of talents and institutions engaged in modern Nepali music.
To develop and expand contacts, cooperation, and relationships at local, national, and international levels.
To collaborate with and encourage organizations involved in the development of modern Nepali music.
To preserve important creations of modern Nepali music and maintain proper archives.
To recognize and honor domestic, foreign, and non-resident Nepali talents, as well as service-oriented organizations, engaged in this field.
To represent, or ensure representation, in activities related to music at the international level.
To coordinate with other departments and undertake joint activities to the extent possible.
To take necessary initiatives for promotion, awareness, and encouragement of modern Nepali music among the public.
To perform any other duties assigned in accordance with the objectives of the Department of Music.
